Abstract

Measurements from the precipitation radar on-board the TRMM satellite have been analysed to obtain the latitude dependence of the annual mean rain height during stratiform precipitation. The results are in good agreement with a simple set of formulas used for propagation predictions. Supporting evidence is obtained from two ground-based radars.
