TRMM PR rain rate and AMeDAS rain gauge comparison

Abstract

To obtain retrieval errors and sampling errors of Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission Precipitation Radar (TRMM PR), PR estimated rain rates were compared with ground based rain gauge data and radar basis rain data on instantaneous and monthly basis. So far PR estimates are lower than ground based measurements. Also there is a possibility that sampling error is not as large as it has been worried about. It is necessary to take statistics to determine the amounts of sampling errors at various area sizes.
