Abstract

A rhombus of four gold atoms is present in the new complex [Au4(CH3CSS)4], which is characterized by short AuAu contacts and extensive mixing of metal and ligand orbitals. (1) is formed from NaAuCl4 and CH3CSSH, and is obtained as red, air-stable crystals.
