Abstract

[Mo(NPMe 3 ) 4 ]Cl 2 has been prepared by the reaction of MoNCl 3 with N-(trimethylsilyl)trimethylphosphanimine in dichloromethane solution from which the complex crystallizes with one CH 2 Cl 2 molecule per formula unit. [Mo(NPMe 3 ) 4 ]Cl 2 ·CH 2 Cl 2 : Space group P2 1 /c, Z = 4. Lattice dimensions at-40°C : a = 1244.2( 1), b = 1609.6(1), c = 1595.9( 1) pm, β = 90.36( 1)°. The structure consists of chloride ions and dications [Mo(NPMe 3 ) 4 ] 2+ in which the molybdenum atom is tetrahedrally coordinated by the four nitrogen atoms of the (NPMe 3 ) - groups with MoN bond lengths of 180.7 pm in average which correspond with double bonds.
