Abstract

Educational institutions providing online learner-led courses report low course completion rates among their users. Procrastination, as acknowledged by previous studies, is one of the major obstacles facing online learners. This study identifies the reasons behind online procrastination and proposes methods to overcome it. Data was collected from TRACK LMS, a well-established online training system in Kuwait University, and analyzed. During a competition period of two months, the ratio of completed courses and training duration were doubled. A survey was conducted on a random sample of fifty university students to investigate online procrastination. Lack of motivation and time were clearly evident as reasons when the responses were analyzed. Based on the results, effective remedies were suggested to tackle the issue.
