Abstract

Abstract Brillouin zone centre lattice dynamical studies for the tetragonal phase of the electron superconductors Nd 2 CuO 4 , Pr 2 CuO 4 , and Gd 2 CuO 4 are reported for three potential models viz., short‐range valence force model, rigid ion model, and a polarizable ion model. The models are developed in three stages with the number of parameters increasing at every stage. The calculated TO‐LO frequencies and high‐frequency dielectric tensor values are compared with recent experimental values reported in the literature and the agreement is found to be very good. The eigenvectors for some of the modes are depicted.
