Abstract

A crystallographic study was done in the Nd 2 CuO 4 -Sr 2 CuO 3 system. Five phases were found in this system; A: Nd 2 CuO 4 , B: Nd 2 SrCu 2 O 6 , C: (Nd 0.45 Sr 0.55 ) 3 Cu 2 O 6- y , D: (Nd 1- x Sr x ) 2 CuO 4- y , and E: Sr 2 CuO 3 . Phases B and C possess Sr 3 Ti 2 O 7 -type structures, and phase D has the same structure as La 2 CuO 4 . No superconductivity was observed in any of the above-mentioned phases down to 4.2 K.
