Magnetic domain structure of some nearly non-magneto-strictive amorphous alloys under elastic stresses

Abstract

The domain structure of amorphous Co58Ni10Fe5Si11B16-(λs≦ 0), and Co70.4Fe4.6Si15B10-(λs ≦ 0) and Fe80B20-alloys (λs ≈ 30 × 10−6) is investigated by using the longitudinal magneto-optical Kerr effect. In these alloys patches of narrow domains are observed. In a definite applied field or under a definite external tensile stress the narrow domains disappear. A quantitative analysis of the dependence of the width of the domains on the applied field and the applied tensile stress leads to the determination of material parameters, such as the effective magnetic anisotropy, the specific Bloch wall energy, the width of the domain wall, and the magnetostrictive constants. Die Domänenstruktur amorpher Co58Ni10Fe5,Si11B16-(λs ≦ 0), Co70,4Fe4,6Si15B10-(λs ≦ 0)- und Fe80B20-Legierungen (λs ≈ 30 × 10−6wird mit Hilfe des longitudinalen magnetooptischen Kerreffektes untersucht. In diesen Legierungen werden Bereiche feiner laminarer Domänen beobachtet. Bei einem wohldefinierten angelegten Feld oder unter einer definierten äßeren Spannung verschwinden die Feindomänen. Eine quantitative Analyse der Abhängigkeit der Domänenweite vom angelegten Feld oder von der angelegten Zugspannung führt zur Bestimmung von Materialparametern wie die effektive magnetische Anisotropie, die spezifische Wandenergie, die Wanddicke und die Magnetostriktionskonstanten.
