Abstract

The electronic spectra of the tetrabridged platinum(III) lantern dimers [Pt2(SO4)4(H2O)2]2- and [Pt2(HPO4)4(H2O)2]2- are re-examined in light of recent electronic structure calculations and spectral assignments for the analogous acetate-bridged complex [Pt2(O2CCH3)4(H2O)2]2+.
