The design of a computer integrated electronics manufacturing system

Abstract

The Advanced Operations System for electronics design, manufacture and test being used by Lockheed Missiles & Space Company's Space Systems Division represents a realisation of the concept of computer integrated manufacturing. This paper describes the system and the evolutionary phases leading to its development and implementation. The strategies and tactics adopted, as well as the management issues encountered, are also discussed.
