Resumo Este artigo propoe que a qualidade do Ensino Religioso (ER) nao-proselista para a escola publica laica e promover educacao para a cidadania plena. Com base numa breve discussao sobre tolerância/intolerância a luz de evidencias proprias ao campo religioso brasileiro, propomos articular as nocoes de violencia e cidadania, entendendo-as como valores das sociedades contemporâneas (formulados em consequencia do Iluminismo). Interessa-nos o desafio de fazer dessa reflexao politico-filosofica que mobiliza evidencias da vida social, uma especie de subsidio pedagogico para o debate em sala de aula, mediado pelo educador do Ensino Religioso, sobre os limites da tolerância e da intolerância. Abstract This article proposes that the quality of religious studies no-proselytist to the laic public school is to promote the education for the total citizenship. Founded on brief discussion on tolerance/intolerance and in the light of typical evidences from religious field Brazilian, we proposes speak about the notions of violence and citizenship and understand them like values of contemporaneous societies (elaborated in consequence of Enlighment).We interested on the challenge of todo this political philosophic reflection that mobilizes evidences from social life, an kind of pedagogic subsidy to the debate in class room, mediated by professor of religious education on the limits of tolerance and intolerance.
