Abstract

This study presents the results of a qualitative research on the cultural variation in the learning classroom of a Portuguese as a Foreign Language class in Brazil.  It has been developed in an immersion course where students belong to different Spanish-speaking communities; such as the Argentinean; the Bolivian; the Colombian; the Chilean; the Peruvian and the Mexican one.  oThe central question in the current paper is whether there is cultural diversity that generally has been overlooked by the Brazilian teacher and by the students who are involved in the learning process.
