Energy Efficient Cluster Routing Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract

This paper presents scheduling of energy efficient cluster nodes near to the base station in wireless sensor networks. These nodes gather the information from the associated cluster nodes to reduce the power consumption and extend the network lifetime compared to low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH) algorithm. But the cluster nodes in this algorithm collect information from sensor nodes and send to the energy efficient cluster node which is close to the base station. The paper compares the dissipation in power consumption, data gathering and extending the network lifetime with LEACH algorithm. Simulation results show that due to the new algorithm (EECL) there has been an increase of lifetime of wireless sensor networks by more than 36%.
