Details of a metal-polymer multilayer absorber for ultrasonic transducers have been investigated. Multiple copper layers with pre-applied adhesive provided attenuation of 220dB/cm with an impedance of 4MRayl and a velocity of 890m/s at 3MHz. These results agreed with design theory and it was shown that the attenuation was high enough to be useful as a backing absorber ultrasonic transducers in the MHz range made with piezoelectric ceramic materials.
