Social media is now one of the major communication tools in academic sites as a result ofstudents using online channels to collect information and keeping in contact with theirinstitutions. Academic libraries increasingly using social media recently for teaching, learningand research support for showcasing new developments, advertising resources, and forcommunication with users. As per Kumar and Kumar (2025, p. 482),“Libraries are no longerjust physical depositories of knowledge but are more proactive in gaining the user’sengagement through various digital channels.” This indicates the growing contribution ofsocial media sites and tools in library services. Now, libraries too will have to learn the usageof such tools.Social media can offer opportunities for communication and promotion, however, manylibraries still experience difficulties in encouraging meaningful engagement. According topast research that has noted improvements in visibility and interaction, the level ofengagement is dependent on how social media is managed (Rathod, 2025; Madhusudhan &Soni, 2024). Due to the uneven interaction of users in different library environments, it isnecessary to study how academic libraries can strengthen their social media practices tobetter connect with users.
