Abstract

The aim of this paper is to explore the issue of argumentation in linguistics textbooks in English. The paper also examines the principles of argumentation. Throughout history, language has been botha unique characteristic of ethnicity and an entity fulfilling its core functions. From ancient times to thepresent, language has been socially manifested, and it is impossible to conceive of language as an entityseparate from humans. Argumentation is the process of justifying and expressing one’s ideas, positions,or perspectives. This process does not merely deal with simple yes/no questions that do not have adefinitive answer, but rather it requires the application of logic and evidence to support one’s stance oncontroversial issues. The article employs comparison and analysis methods in its writing process. Keywords: Linguistics, Argumentation, Linguistics Texts, English Language, GeneralLinguistics, Linguistic Argumentation
