Sustainability assessment for decentralized water treatment technologies

Abstract

Technologies and socio-technical systems (such as water supply infrastructure) have effects on society, environment, and the economy, which are relevant dimensions for sustainable solutions. Knowledge about the effects of new solutions on the different dimensions of sustainability is fundamental for decision-making processes regarding the implementation and transfer of innovative technologies and novel concepts. Therefore, the new approaches of the WaKap-project for developing a modular system for a sustainable water treatment and desalination are evaluated within a sustainability assessment.
