The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) and related technologies have disturbed the regular systems to generate operations that are efficient, accurate, and automated. This particular research paper examines the design and implementation of RFID-based Smart Attendance System using Arduino UNO R3. The proposed system attempts to automate the attendance-taking systems employed in schools, businesses, or organizations that deal with human labor which poses threats to accuracy and inefficiency during the procedure involved in manual administration. The system is based on Radio- Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. Every individual has been assigned an RFID tag. Each time the RFID reader reads a tag associated with an Arduino UNO R3 microcontroller, attendance is automatically recorded in real-time and hence stored in a central database. The system is also equipped with a 16x2 LCD that provides real-time feedback and links to computers or cloud for data management and analysis. The paper consists of hardware components, software implementation, and working principles of the system. A series of experiments reveal that the system is reliable, accurate, and low-cost, so it comes across as a potential remedy to match the needs for modern attendance management requirements. The research presents the scope for the further development in the field of RFID and Arduino-based systems for providing a smarter and more connected environment and supporting the administrative tasks.
