Abstract

Utilizing the wonderous properties of graphene for real world engineering solutions was the purpose of this work. Bringing the results reported in the lab to large scale production requires an in depth knowledge of the novel material's behaviour from the microscale to the macro scale. Large scale production of high quality graphene has not yet effectively been achieved, this leads researches to look into composite solutions - dispersing graphene particles throughout a supporting matrix material. This work uses modelling in parallel with empirical work in order to understand the dispersion properties of graphene within polymer matrices in order to create an electrical conductive nanocomposite capable of electromagnetic shielding.
