Phosphorus-Doped Ordered\nMesoporous Carbons with Different\nLengths as Efficient Metal-Free Electrocatalysts for Oxygen Reduction\nReaction in Alkaline Media

Abstract

Phosphorus-doped ordered mesoporous carbons (POMCs) with\ndifferent\nlengths were synthesized using a metal-free nanocasting method of\nSBA-15 mesoporous silica with different sizes as template and triphenylphosphine\nand phenol as phosphorus and carbon sources, respectively. The resultant\nPOMC with a small amount of P doping is demonstrated as a metal-free\nelectrode with excellent electrocatalytic activity for oxygen reduction\nreaction (ORR), coupled with much enhanced stability and alcohol tolerance\ncompared to those of platinum via four-electron pathway in alkaline\nmedium. Interestingly, the POMC with short channel length is found\nto have superior electrochemical performances compared to those with\nlonger sizes.
