DPPF-Catalyzed Atom-Transfer Radical Cyclization via\nAllylic Radical

Abstract

A general iron-catalyzed\nstrategy for the atom-transfer radical\ncyclization (ATRC) of allylic halide is reported. Critical to this\nstrategy is the use of DPPF [1,1′-bis­(diphenylphosphino)­ferrocene]\nas catalyst, which allows for efficient generation of the allylic\nradical species via a single-electron transfer (SET) process. The\nfeasibility of achieving ATRC reactions of propargyl chlorides is\nalso demonstrated, which affords products with an exocyclic allene\nmoiety.
