We discuss the possibility to use the recoilless (d,$^3$He) \nreaction to produce bound states of $\\eta$ and $\\omega$ mesons in light\nnuclei. We calculate meson bound states in the nucleus using an optical \npotential and their formation cross sections with the Green function \nmethod, and show that it should be feasible to experimentally observe\nmesic nuclei in the excitation energy spectrum and to deduce\nthe meson mass shift in nuclei. This method discussed here is\ncomplementary to the dilepton invariant-mass spectroscopy,\ncommonly used to study in-medium vector meson masses.\n \n \n
