High-Q whispering gallery modes in pillar microcavities

Abstract
\n \nWe report the observation of high-Q whispering gallery \nmodes (Q > 10 000) in GaAs/AlAs pillar microcavities containing InAs quantum \ndots as an internal probe. A simple model based on the effective index \nmethod describes precisely the evolution of the free spectral range with the \npillar diameter. \n\n
