Reduced\nGraphene Oxide Supported Palladium Nanoparticles via Photoassisted\nCitrate Reduction for Enhanced Electrocatalytic Activities

Abstract

Reduced\ngraphene oxide (rGO) supported palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) with\na size of ∼3 nm were synthesized using one-pot photoassisted\ncitrate reduction. This synthetic approach allows for the formation\nand assembly of Pd NPs onto the rGO surface with a desired size and\ncan be readily used for other metal NP preparation. The prepared rGO-Pd\nexhibited 5.2 times higher mass activity for ethanol oxidation reaction\nthan the commercial platinum/carbon (Pt/C). In the oxygen reduction\nreaction tests, rGO-Pd exhibited comparable activity compared with\nPt/C and maintained its high performance after 4000 cycles of potential\nsweep. These results demonstrate that our synthetic approach is effective\nfor preparing graphene-supported metal NPs with excellent activity\nand stability in ethanol oxidation and oxygen reduction reactions.
