Abstract

We report a nonenzymatic wearable\nsensor for electrochemical analysis\nof perspiration glucose. Multipotential steps are applied on a Au\nelectrode, including a high negative pretreatment potential step for\nproton reduction which produces a localized alkaline condition, a\nmoderate potential step for electrocatalytic oxidation of glucose\nunder the alkaline condition, and a positive potential step to clean\nand reactivate the electrode surface for the next detection. Fluorocarbon-based\nmaterials were coated on the Au electrode for improving the selectivity\nand robustness of the sensor. A fully integrated wristband is developed\nfor continuous real-time monitoring of perspiration glucose during\nphysical activities, and uploading the test result to a smartphone\napp via Bluetooth.
