Abstract

Perovskite-type complex ferrite La1-x,SrxFeO3 (x = 0-0.3) nanoparticles of different particle sizes were prepared using the sol-gel method. The influence of the Sr content and particle size on the microstructure and magnetic properties has been investigated. Increasing Sr content and increasing particle size lead to lattice contractions. Magnetic measurements indicate the existence of a weak ferromagnetism in La1-xSrxFeO3 nanoparticles. The spontaneous magnetization of the weak ferromagnetism decreases with increasing Sr content and increasing particle size. The influence of microstructure on the magnetic properties has been discussed.
