Hydrothermal syntheses, crystal structures and luminescent properties of two Mn(II) coordination polymers based on carboxylate and imidazole-containing ligands

Abstract

Two new coordination polymers, [Mn(1,4-BDC)(bimb)0.5]n (1) and [Mn(Hbtc)(bimb)0.5]n (2) (1,4-H2BDC = 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid, H3btc = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid and bimb = 1,4-bis(1-imidazol-yl)-2,5-dimethyl benzene), have been hydrothermally synthesized by reactions of Mn(II) salt with a rigid 1,4-bis(1-imidazol-yl)-2,5-dimethyl benzene and varying carboxylate ligands. Complex 1 is a binodal (3,7)-connected three dimensional (3D) architecture with point symbol (44.617).(63). Complex 2 is a (3,6)-connected 3D structure with point symbol (3.4.5).(32.42.5.63.72). The luminescent properties of 1 and 2 were investigated in the solid state at room temperature.
