Rice-Husk-Templated\nHierarchical Porous TiO2/SiO2 for Enhanced Bacterial\nRemoval

Abstract

To\nfurther enhance the bacterial removal capability, we synthesize a\nbiotemplated hierarchical porous material coupling chemical components\nand hierarchical microstructure, which is derived from rice husk.\nThe results show that the chemical components and hierarchical microstructure\nof the prepared material could both be factors in enhancing the bacterial\nremoval capability. On the basis of the experimental results, we propose\na hypothetical enhanced bacterial removal mechanism model of the prepared\nmaterial. Furthermore, we propose a hypothetical method of inferring\nbacterial physical removal effects of samples by their dye adsorption\nresults. Also, the hypothetical method has been proven to be reasonable\nby the experimental results. This work provides a new paradigm for\nbacterial removal and can contribute to the development of new functional\nmaterials for enhanced bacterial removal in the future.
