All-Color\nSubwavelength Output of Organic Flexible\nMicrolasers

Abstract

All-color subwavelength\noutput of lasers was demonstrated in a\nrationally designed organic microdisk/silver nanowire heterostructures.\nThe dye-doped flexible microdisks served as the wavelength tunable\nwhispering-gallery-mode lasers with low lasing thresholds, whereas\nthe silver nanowires supported the output of the lasing mode as subwavelength\ncoherent light sources. The wavelength of the outcoupled laser was\ntuned over the full visible spectrum scope owing to the flexibility\nof the microdisks and their compatibility with various organic laser\ndyes. Furthermore, a multicolor subwavelength laser was achieved in\na single heterostructure and the laser output was successfully modulated\nby varying the surface plasmon polariton propagation length.
