Revolutionizing UAV Capabilities: Exploring the Potential of Nuclear Propulsion Systems

Abstract

This theoretical research paper explores the potential integration of nuclear propulsion systems in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The study synthesizes existing literature on UAV propulsion technologies, identifies gaps in current applications, and proposes a conceptual framework for the adoption of nuclear propulsion. The main objectives are to assess the theoretical feasibility, implications, and challenges associated with nuclear-powered UAVs. The paper employs a comparative analysis of propulsion systems and a theoretical exploration of nuclear propulsion principles. The findings suggest that nuclear propulsion could significantly extend UAV endurance and payload capacity, presenting transformative implications for both civilian and defense sectors. However, the study also highlights substantial challenges, including safety concerns, regulatory hurdles, and public perception. The paper concludes with a call for further research to address these challenges and advance the field of nuclear propulsion in UAVs.
