Entrepreneurship plays a pivot role in the economic progress of a nation as it makes people more innovative and autonomous. Besides, entrepreneurship is perceived as a channel for the young adults to discover their area of interest. At present student entrepreneurship has become a crucial part of discussion and also a matter of concern for the government. Being a very important topic to be studied, this paper gives a framework on the student’s interest in entrepreneurship. This research paper also throws light on the key factors that strongly influence students in becoming entrepreneurs along with the suggestions in increasing the number of student entrepreneurs. The scope of study was limited among the college students in Chennai, and their interest in entrepreneurship. Structured questionnaire with 5-point Likert scale under survey sampling was used for primary data collection. The study outcome concludes that factors such as Unemployment, dissatisfaction in existing job, family pressure, profit motive, need for power and favourable government policies and incentives have significant relationship towards student’s entrepreneurial intentions. Increased importance of youth entrepreneurship in recent years has led to write this research paper.
