This article systematizes the experience of an outreach project of the National University of Entre Ríos that aimed to integrate teaching, outreach projects and research by means of participatory action research. The project aimed to plan outreach curricular practices, providing opportunities for students to get involved in community problems, working in contexts where learning and teaching are bidirectional; another aim was to provide the opportunities for students to develop social interactive skills. Whereas for teachers, the project involved problematizing and giving new meanings to practices as well as experiencing other forms of teaching, learning and evaluating to strengthen the integral professional development of future professionals, generating spaces where specific curricular contents based on popular food knowledge are built according to a scientific analysis.
