Abstract

In the digital age, punctuation plays a crucial pragmatic role in online communication, influencing tone, meaning, and interaction dynamics. This study explores the pragmatic aspects of punctuation in Uzbek and English online texts, focusing on its functions in emotional expression, tone management, and conversational structure. While both languages share similarities in punctuation usage, distinct cultural and linguistic characteristics shape their specific practices. The study also highlights the innovative use of unconventional punctuation and emoji’s in online discourse, contributing to a deeper understanding of language evolution in digital contexts.
