Abstract

It is now common practice to measure forces by a spring in the form of a cantilever beam whose deflection is measured by resistance wire strain gages. In this paper, formulas and charts are given to aid in designing the beams. Several electrical circuits are analyzed. The results of some experiments on the effect of working voltage and temperature are presented.
