This abstract discusses the interpretation of QS. Al-Ahzab verse 33 in the context of Islam and the conditions of modern society. In the verse, women are given guidance to stay at home, not to dress excessively like the people of ignorance, and to obey religious teachings. These restrictions are interpreted in the socio-historical context in which the verse was revealed and its relevance to today. Using a double movement hermeneutic approach, this study explores the implied moral message and applies the Qur'an's universal teachings to the specific social context of today. The results of the analysis show that women are allowed to leave the house as long as they are able to take care of themselves and maintain their dignity. In conclusion, the restriction is relevant to current conditions, provided that women can maintain their identity and honor values.
