The purpose of this article is to present a new isolated bidirectional DC-DC converter topology for battery charging applications, which is also suitable for electric vehicles. The operating principle of the topology for the two power flows will be explained and demonstrated through operating steps, as well as analyses and graphs depicting the behavior of the converter's voltage gain relative to the variations in the duty cycle applied to the power switches. The main contributions of this work primarily include the introduction of this new DC-DC converter topology, the PWM modulation used to control the converter power switches, high switching frequency, low current variation in the inductor, low-value output capacitors, and the frequencies of voltage and current ripples at the source are twice as high as the switching frequency, which leads to smaller magnets with reduced weight and volume. The experimental results will be presented to validate the analyses conducted.
