This community service activity was conducted in Negeri Lima Village, Leihitu District, Central Maluku, focusing on revitalizing sasi pala governance as a cultural heritage system with ecological, social, and economic functions. The program aimed to strengthen the capacity of local government and traditional kewang institutions while increasing public and youth participation in sustaining sasi practices. A participatory community development approach was applied through workshops, training, and environmental education involving 45 participants, including local officials, kewang members, youth, and women leaders. The results showed a 78% increase in participants’ understanding of customary governance and a 65% improvement in environmental conservation knowledge, along with the establishment of new customary regulations on sasi pala management and the integration of sasi values into local school curricula. The community demonstrated a 70% rise in ecological awareness and collective participation in traditional rituals. Collaboration among government, academia, and local communities successfully created a sustainable resource management system. The program’s outcomes suggest broader opportunities for replicating this model of indigenous governance strengthening across Maluku through policy support, institutional regeneration, and academic networking.
