Abstract

This chapter introduces the concept of triboelectricity, its fundamentals and how triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) devices operate based on the triboelectric effect. The chapter discusses the operational modes, characterization methods, materials selection and fabrication of TENG devices. Energy-harvesting and self-powered sensing applications of TENG devices are also covered. A list of suggested materials for further reading is provided at the end of the chapter.
