Chemical Waste Management at Ontario Hydro's Fossil-Fueled Generating Stations

Abstract

Abstract This paper reviews the methods used by a large utility to treat waterborne wastes from boiler cleaning operations. The configurations of the various treatment schemes were determined by factors such as the age of the plant, land availability, and the need to treat the wastes. The treatment schemes are effective in producing the quality of water effluents required by regulatory guidelines.
