Una nueva localidad de Atlapetes blancae (Passerellidae, Passeriformes), con comentarios sobre su hábitat

Abstract

The Antioquia Brush-finch (Atlapetes blancae) is an endemic species of the Central Andes of Colombia, registered only in San Pedro de los Milagros (Antioquia). We observed two groups of 4 and 3 individuals of A. blancae in Yarumal (Antioquia) between 2018 and 2019, within a mesophilic open schrubland habitat at 48 km north of San Pedro de los Milagros. Although our record is not a significant extension of the distribution range of the species, it suggests the existence of an additional population. According to the type of habitat where we observed the groups and the fact that other species of the Altapetes genus were recorded in different vegetation covers, we suggest that A. blancae is a mesophilic open shrubland specialist. It is necessary to look for the species along both locations and evaluate the status of the population reported in this paper.
