The incidence of prostate cancer shows regional differences, probably due to differences inexposure to risk factors. Several studies have related the risk of prostate cancer with variousfactors, which play an important role in the etiopathogenesis, these include nutritional,environmental, and constitutional factors. Effects can manifest through variousmechanisms including inflammation, sex hormone dysregulation, and immune systemsuppression. A descriptive review of the main molecular mechanisms and their effects onprostate carcinogenesis is carried out.
