Abstract

Positive psychology, since its creation, has been responsible for the study of subjective well-being and optimism with the aim of improving the quality of life of the population. Particularly, in the population of older adults, they are considered important for their role in coping with the changes produced at this stage, to achieve successful aging, which is why their study and the subsequent development of strategies to promote lifestyles are considered important. healthier lives. In this work, a narrative bibliographic review was carried out about the relationship between subjective well-being and optimism in the population of older adults. Subjective well-being is a health protection factor, which involves experiencing pleasant moods. On the other hand, optimism is defined as a generalized expectation that positive and not negative events will occur. It is also considered a health protective factor. This topic was investigated based on the analysis of a total of 9 scientific articles, published in the last 15 years. From this review, it has been concluded that both optimism and subjective well-being play an important role in successful aging. It was also found that there is a positive relationship between optimism and subjective well-being, that is, the higher the level of optimism, the greater the subjective well-being.
