On the performance of mixed triple-hop FSO/RF/VLC relay system

Abstract

In this paper, a three-hop hybrid free space optical(FSO) communication/radio frequency (RF)/visible light communication (VLC) relay communication system was proposed and the outage probability performance of the proposed systemwas analyzed.Gamma-gamma distribution was followed by the FSO channel, while the RF channel was subject to Rayleigh distribution. The novel exact closed-form expressions for cumulative function of the end-to-end signal-to-noise γ of the proposed system in terms of Meijer’s G function were firstly derived.Secondly, based on the channel statistics, the outage probability of the system was further deduced. Finally, the influence of different parameters on the system outage probability performance was analyzed.Simulation results showed that system outage probability performance could be affected by atmospheric turbulence parameters in FSO channels,LED light height in VLC channels and receiving vision field.
