Abstract

In this article we propose to give an account of the interest in examining the documentary series of books of General Orders and of the Corps and of register of admissions, discharges and dispatches, 1850 to 1890, located in the Historical Service of the National Army in Argentina. In the introduction we describe the provenance of these documents and highlight some specific characteristics that distinguish these sources from others that contain information about military policy or include details of military activities. In the development of the work we point out the ways of inserting this material in our research work based on its analysis and the possibilities of approach that this material can provide to other investigations.
