Characterization of Chitin or Chitosan/PEO Nanofibers Prepared by Electrospinning

Abstract

In this study, biocompatible nanofibers were successfully prepared by electro spinning. Chitin and deacetylated chitosan were added to PEO respectively and mixed to form an electrospinning precursor solution. The precursor solution was electrospinning to prepare chitin/PEO and chitosan/PEO nanofibers. Structural and physical properties of chitin/PEO and chitosan/PEO materials and their nanofibers measured by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and contact angle measurements.
