Abstract

Abstract Chapter 26 tackles the topics of stress management and mental wellness from two main standpoints: health-positive actions or behaviors, and health-positive viewpoints. Stress is experienced by a person when they lack a sense of control over a situation or event. It is common to experience stress from time to time, and there are strategies for improving how to manage stress. Physical exercise, relaxation techniques, and choosing how to view the situation can all influence how well a person copes with stress. The links between mental wellness and finding ways to be involved in activities that are personally meaningful, as well as with learning how to develop a positive attitude in dealing with everyday situations are described.
