Photosorption of chromium on titanium dioxide is a complex multi-stepe process. In this work, the stages of photosorption extraction of Cr(VI) depending on the pH of the medium were determined, and the difference between photosorption, photoreduction, and classical adsorption was clearly shown. Two modifications of titanium dioxide with the rutile and anatase structures were obtained by the hydrothermal synthesis and their properties, such as surface morphology, zeta potential, and sorption activity towards Cr(VI) ions, were investigated. The photosorption of Cr(VI) on the synthesised titanium dioxide samples is significantly higher than on the commercial photocatalysts Degussa and Hombifine.
