Abstract

This document exposes the characteristics, origins, objectives and stages of the participatory research methodology, placing it as a research methodology applied mainly in the fields of social sciences. Seeking to contribute to the change in mentality that is required today, in terms of what the designer’s task should be and his way of designing, focusing on the real needs of people. The benefit of integrating participatory research and participatory design in projects is raised, especially those with a community intervention approach. Projects are exposed in which this methodology has been applied, community participation has been achieved, laying the foundations of community empowerment.
