Abstract

The providers of cloud services offer organization and businesses flexible, scalable IT services with reasonable costs. These advantages in building an entire infrastructure on the cloud also have increased the number of security concerns that could impact different aspects of security. This research paper aims to discuss the most common cloud security threats, like data loss and malware infection. It also explores the mitigation controls that organizations can implement to defend against the threat of these security risks like implementing intrusion detection systems. Additionally, this paper explores future directions for enhancing cloud security and the methods to defend against them. For the organizations to achieve enhancement on their cloud computing environment security, they must comprehend and understand these cloud security threats, mitigate these threats by implementing the proper efficient controls, and to always stay up-to-date with new technologies that can add value to updating the security in their environments.
