Wide-angle Scanning Phased Array Based on Wide-Beam Circularly Polarized Antenna

Abstract

This paper proposes a dual-feed wide-beam circularly polarized antenna unit, and forms a 2×8 planar phased array to realize one-dimensional circularly polarized wide-angle scanning. The antenna unit is composed of a single-layer radiation patch and a quadrifilar helical structure around it. The quadrifilar helical structure can widen the beam width. The antenna unit works at 3.31-3.45GHz, and the axial ratio in the working frequency band is less than 3dB, and its size is 0.35λ0×0.35λ0×0.12λ0. The 2×8 planar phased array is composed of the antenna elements can realize ±60° circular polarization scanning and maintain good circular polarization performance.
